Song of the week 12/01/2008 by Adam Arcuragi

Adam Arcuragi (and friends) perform Bottom of the River

Whats up...welcome back to the song of the week. Chris found this weeks song and I cant stop listening to it. Adam Arcuragi performed this song with some of his friend as a take away show for blogotheque.net in a parking garage on 25th Street in NYC. I personally think the drum beat is pretty cool, but as a drummer I may be a little bias. I could not find a studio version of this song so I picked another from Adam and placed it below as well as on our play list. If you have time check out his myspace page. I wound up buying the album after hearing a few tracks and so far I am not disappointed. We hope you enjoy the song as well as your week. Let us know what you think.

Song of the week 11/17/2008 by Ben Folds

You Don't Know Me by Ben Folds

Whats up and welcome back to This Weeks Song. Two weeks in a row...shit. We made the trip to Montclair NJ this past Friday to see Wolf Parade perform @ the Wellmont Theater. Although the drive sucked the show did not disappoint. We were glad to catch them before they left for their over seas tour. Was anyone else @ the show?? What did you think? In an unprecedented move this weeks song is not from the concert we just went too. I know you are all astounded, but all we can do is hope you can deal with it. We are happy to bring you a video from Ben Folds off their new album Way to Normal. The name of the song is You Don't Know Me. If you have the time check out the link to the music video done by Tim and Eric from Comedy Central. (That's how we actually found out about the song...thanks BP) Hope you enjoy the song and your week.

Song of the week 11/10/2008 by Bloc Party

This Modern Love by Bloc Party

Whats up...Welcome back to The song of whenever we feel like it. Thanks for stopping by. Chris' recent return from Hong Kong brings us this weeks song from Bloc Party and a bunch of suggestions for next week. There were many good videos of this song on youtube. We though this acoustic version was pretty cool. Definitely check out the studio version as it is great in its own right as well.

Song of the week 10/06/2008 by Oxford Collapse

Whats up...Hope you like this weeks song from Oxford Collapse. The name of the song is Birthday Wars. The video features an acoustic version of the song which has a totally different feel then the high energy studio version. You should definitely check them both out. The studio version has a very loose/live feel which I can only assume would translate to a pretty exciting show. Oxford Collapse is playing tonight @ Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker in NYC and again on the 15th @ Webster Hall. Hope you enjoy the song and your week.

Song of the week 09/29/2008 by Built to Spill

What's up? Welcome back. If you haven't figured out by now if one, or in this case both of us went to a concert over the weekend you are more than likely going to see a video from that band for the upcoming weeks selection. This week is no exception. We came across some free Built to Spill tickets late in the week and to be quite honest we would have paid for them if need be (thanks Matt www.dougstubes.com). We saw Built to Spill perform at Terminal 5 in NYC on Friday Night. The venue is relatively unique in atmosphere and can hold quite a number of people. The sound was definitely not lost in the size of the building as the 6 piece Built to Spill filled every inch of the place with a full and rather intense sound. Chris found this video from the concert posted the next day and we had no choice but to post it. The audio quality is pretty good considering it came from a digital camera. You should definitely check out the studio version from the seeqpod player below the video. Have a nice week. Cant wait for CMJ!

Song of the week 09/08/2008 by Califone

Califone performs "The Orchids"
Hello again. Long time no see. Mostly my fault I must attest, as the staff of This Weeks Song was diligently sending me songs to post but I didn't post any of them. Some songs are definitely worth a listen and I will get them posted throughout the next few weeks. Chris and I are happy to bring you this weeks song from Califone. The name of the song is "The Orchids" and it can be found on their album titled Roots & Crowns. This song has been on my ipod for a while now and just so happened to play randomly this afternoon on my way home form work and I cant stop listening to it. It seems to provide the listener with a little of everything throughout its mellow course. Does anyone think Tim Rutili sounds a little like a mellow Kurt Cobain? Let us know what you think of the song. If you have the time definitely check out the studio recording below from seeqpod as well as their myspace page for more tracks.
